Biography
Ken has spent the last eighteen years applying human factors principles to improve safety and performance in acute care in UK and US hospitals. He has authored over 120 peer-reviewed journal articles exploring and implementing systems engineering approaches to healthcare improvement and currently leads major projects in robotic surgery, anesthesia medication delivery, and sterile processing with a range of other interests. He has also pioneered embedded clinical human factors practice as way to spread and apply these principles, working alongside clinicians at the front line of care to understand everyday challenges and address a broad range of reliability, safety and performance concerns from a human-centered perspective.
