Biography
Dr. Kolovos is a Pittsburgh native and attended the University of Pittsburgh for her undergraduate and medical studies. She completed her Pediatrics and Pediatric Critical Care Medicine training at the University of Michigan. She joined the faculty at Washington University School of Medicine in 2002. She has extensive experience in healthcare delivery improvement research and patient safety.

Dr. Kolovos spearheaded the Division of Pediatric Critical Care Medicine’s Quality and Safety Program. She guides other Department of Pediatrics members in designing similar programs for individual divisions and sections. She is interested in human factors and systems failures and strives to understand their impact on healthcare delivery.

Dr. Kolovos has successfully developed and implemented both the Rapid Response Team and the Pediatric Early Warning System, which have dramatically reduced morbidity and mortality related to code events both on the inpatient units and in the Intensive Care Unit.

Dr. Kolovos seeks to use her research, leadership, and healthcare quality experience to update and implement pediatric quality improvement and safety research to translate research into practice.
