Katrina Engel
Biography
Katrina Engel is a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) with a Bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology and a Masters Degree in Health Sciences from the University of Toronto. Katrina solidified her front line clinical skills in tertiary and community healthcare settings where she developed an interest in health systems and health research. Progressing to a career in virtual healthcare that combined clinical care and research, Katrina was ultimately lead to an administrative role in research. Katrina’s career came full circle when she was recruited for a Patient Care Manager role in Labour and Delivery at Oak Valley Health where she has happily been for the past two years.

Passionately committed to exploring the impact of Human factors on Patient Safety and Risk, Katrina looks to empower end-users to take an active role in process improvement. Katrina has been involved in Randomized Control Trials (RCT’s) and Quality Improvement (QI) research most notably ‘Technology-Enabled Self-Monitoring of Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease With or Without Asynchronous Remote Monitoring: Randomized Controlled Trial’ in the Journal of Internet medicine.
