As the Director of the Accessible Healthcare Lab at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, Dr. Choi is dedicated to co-designing inclusive mobile health (mHealth) technologies for individuals with diverse abilities, especially those with visual impairments. Recognizing the influence of disabilities and chronic conditions on a person's overall health and well-being, Dr. Choi aims to empower individuals by drawing on personalized healthcare and evidence-based mHealth interventions. She possesses deep knowledge of web and mobile accessibility challenges faced by blind users. Moreover, her prior research on health behaviors of the visually impaired provides insights into the effects of visual challenges on health and the aging process. Presently, she is partnering with experts in ophthalmology, nursing, kinesiology, computer science, information science, and the National Federation of the Blind to create an accessible mHealth system tailored for the visually impaired health community.
